Community Projects

Coming Soon.

Our team of participants are in the process of organising a range of projects to support the local community.

Activity Groups

Anxiety-friendly environments for people to develop their social skills, practice management techniques and build confidence and resilience.

These sessions run hand-in-hand with CBT and Counselling support, or you can contact us to attend just to build your own confidence and self-esteem when it comes to socialising.

Art Groups

Paint or draw in a quiet, anxiety-friendly space.  Focus on your creation and be free to express your feelings on canvas.

Craft Projects

Join with us to make your own wonderful creations:

  • paper-quilling
  • card-making
  • button wall art
  • knitting
  • decoupage
  • needle-felting

The craft activity will give you a focal point to help you relax around other people, taking your mind and thoughts away from the fact you are around people.

Book Club

Join our book club to practice speaking with others to express your ideas and just generally talk about something you've read.  There's no pressure to think about your conversation topic.

Yoga, Meditation, and Mindfulness

Come along to our classes that are run with no more than 6 people.  No equipment or experience necessary.  Just come along and be present, and practice relaxation techniques whilst being around people.

We're happy to discuss your individual needs for any of the above groups; please just get in touch!

Fundraisers

Throughout the year, The Arch Initiative holds various stalls and events to raise funds for the organisation and help to make our services more accessible to everybody.

Keep an eye on this space for more information.

If you want to help out, you can donate via our JustGiving page.

Volunteering

We are always looking for local volunteers to help out with the projects that we run! If you think this is something you'd be interested in, feel free to contact us!

Right now, we are looking for:

  • People who are able to lead a small group (maximum of 6) in art/craft activities such as paper quilling, card making, needle felt or any other ideas

  • The group will support people who are socially anxious and so the volunteer must be able to support people to integrate into a social setting (training will be provided to support this)

  • We are flexible around the days and times but are looking for delivery to be between 10am and 3pm, Monday to Friday, moving forward some Saturdays also if possible.

  • All costs for materials will be covered / provided

  • Delivery will take place at Crawford House, L8. Located walking distance from major bus routes and a free onsite car park and ample on-street parking is available.

  • Refreshments will be provided – all dietary preferences are accounted for

  • Looking to start in October from the 18th onwards, for a duration of 1 or 2 hours per week, either as one session or as two (flexible to suit the volunteer).

  • The schedule will factor in volunteer ability, holidays and we will work with them to ensure scheduling fits in with their personal life.

  • We are looking to run these on an ongoing basis, and also keen to speak with people who could support with a Reading/Book club.

Covid-19 guidelines and risk assessments are strictly followed.

In general, we are always looking to work with like-minded people and open to discussing ideas and adapting what we do to suit people’s preferences. We are happy to discuss the opportunity and also to answer any queries via enquiries@thearchinitiative.com .
